Vice President, IT Operations position description
and responsibilities
The VP, Operations will conceive, develop, drive, and execute the Cisco IT Operational Excellence strategy that enables Cisco to conduct business on a more productive and consistent basis. This role is a Sr. level leadership position reporting to the CIO and will lead a team of highly motivated employees. The goal is to deliver on operational excellence metrics and create strategy and direction to improve operational excellence for Cisco IT moving forward. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing the next level strategy and roadmap, and develop the business and IT partnerships required to be successful. Operational Excellence is a key pillar for Cisco IT.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Work with the Cisco’s senior executives across the organization to define, launch, and drive mission-critical strategic and operational initiatives
- Defining strategy that enable Cisco’s incident management processes
- Create and execute a change strategy and roadmap that solidifies the predictive and proactive resolution of operational issues.
- Interpreting operational metrics into actionable change programs
- Influence to gain alignment of peers and executives and lead the execution of the strategy
- Create IT Operational Excellence Vision and roadmap, taking the IT vision of “enable every move with IT”, and making that happen operationally.
- Be the operational excellence champion; evangelizing the importance to our business
Education and Experience
- Must have significant experience managing a Network Operation Center (NOC). Strong IT Operations background in fast paced environment
- Experience enhancing and developing the teams capabilities to predict and proactively solve operational issues.
- Strong leadership track record - ability to create a vision and strategy then execute
- Build relationships and communicate effectively to all levels of the organization
- Strong leadership and influencing skills which can be used to lead cross functional efforts
- Proven ability to drive change into an organization
- Ability to understand Cisco’s processes and working environment quickly.
- Previous experience building and leading large, globally dispersed development teams.
- Proven ability to navigate complex, global organizations and deliver large cross-functional IT projects
- We require a Bachelors degree; and prefer an MBA or MA.
