Vice President, Product Management

VP, Product Management position description and responsibilities

The Vice President of Product Management is accountable for the development, implementation, and maintenance of fundamental processes and plans related to Client’s gas and chemical module and component products. This includes developing a product road map to identify the right product(s) to build at the right time and to create, maintain and implement product plans that describe how products will be created, changed, controlled, and supported. Partnering with Sales to create, maintain and implement marketing plans that support selling these products and the ability to clearly communicate and directly interface with customers to assess their needs is a primary responsibility. This role requires a technical competence to facilitate technologies and meet a specifically assessed business need and the skills to justify a business case for new products. The role will require developing a close working relationship with the product development team and a candidate who has the technical acumen to understand the product development process.  Paramount is the ability to drive the execution of product life cycle from product assessment (Product Management) through research and development to marketing (Product Marketing). The winning candidate will bring energy, leadership and enthusiasm to the organization while continuing to develop personally and professionally.

 

Education and Experience


Minimum 12 years experience leading a technical product management function (with staff) from product conception to successful implementation

Product Management:  Experience developing product road maps and unique customer centric solutions on a case by case basis.  Ability to organize a product management team around a focused, nimble, pragmatic product road map.

Change Management:  Proven success in transforming a product management function from an atmospheric, market focused, analytical group to a grounded, customer-centric, solutions-oriented team.

Management:  Lengthy track record of creating and innovating at the strategic level while managing diligent execution at the tactical level; Ability to work independently and across multiple levels of organizations, and behind the scenes, in order to accomplish goals.

Marketing:  Demonstrated strong communication, presentation, and customer service skills; relentless drive; the ability to correspond with and manage diverse accounts; Major account experience.

Financial Acumen:  Experience interpreting P&L models and strong understanding of Product Management’s impact on product margin.

Technical Competency:  BS in a relevant technical field and an advanced degree preferred; Strong familiarity with product development process.

Industry:  An extended track record of success in leading the full cycle of product development, marketing and management in a technical industry.  Semiconductor experience a plus.  OEM experience in hardware and manufacturing is a necessity.
